Building Management System (BMS) Technician - TG1235, Estates Salary: £32,080 - £37,694 per annum Start Date: As soon as possible , <p style="text-align: justify;">Join a dynamic team at the forefront of building management innovation. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> As a Building Management Systems (BMS) Technician, you will be a key member of the University's Technical Operations Team, supporting the operation and maintenance of the Building Management System and associated smart building technologies across the University estate. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The University of St Andrews operates one of the largest Building Management Systems in Scotland, with almost 100 buildings and around 40,000 monitoring and control points connected to our Siemens Desigo CC system. The BMS plays a vital role in maintaining comfortable, safe and energy efficient environments across our teaching, research and residential buildings. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> This is a varied, hands on role where no two days are the same. The position involves a mix of office based work and on site activity across the University estate. You will support the day to day operation of the University’s BMS, responding to reactive issues, investigating system alarms and building performance concerns, carrying out fault finding activities and identifying opportunities to improve system performance and energy efficiency.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Working closely with the University’s Heating and Electrical Trades Teams, you will also be involved in practical maintenance activities, including replacing and commissioning sensors and field devices, supporting utility metering systems and assisting with the delivery of maintenance activities, service improvements and energy saving initiatives across the estate.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">The role also involves coordinating and responding to incoming requests, working as part of a team rota to review system issues, provide initial technical input and ensure that work is appropriately progressed. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> You will also have the opportunity to be involved in projects that trial and introduce new technologies to further optimise building performance and support the University’s sustainability ambitions. </p> <p style="text-align: justify;"> Applicants should ideally have a technology or engineering background and be educated to HNC level, or possess equivalent relevant experience. Knowledge of building services, control systems and HVAC systems would be advantageous but is not essential.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Previous experience of working with a Building Management System would be beneficial, although full training and ongoing support will be provided.
