About Real Press

Real Press is run by its founder, Erik Engstrom. It used to score web pages for AI likelihood, and it is now building signed, portable records for writing.

Who runs Real Press

Real Press began as a passion project. The founder loves to cook and bake, and while looking for recipes kept finding blogs with AI-generated text and images. The idea was to find recipes developed by people, and to support the creators behind them. It grew into a search engine that scored web pages for AI likelihood.

Why detection stopped

Until October 2026 Real Press scored web pages for AI likelihood. We decided to stop in September 2026 and closed the public checks on 15 October 2026.

A score could show how a text looked to a model, but not who stood behind it, and it was less reliable on short text, on languages other than English, and on writing made to evade detectors. What happened, including what old badge snippets on other sites still say, is on the Trust page.

What Real Press is building now

Real Press is building signed, portable records that tie an exact version of a piece of writing to the key that attested it. A writer will hand an editor a receipt, the shareable form of that record, for the exact version they submitted, and the editor will be able to check it without joining Real Press.

Live: the demo and an offline-verifiable synthetic sample. Not live yet: identity checks, public receipts, the pilot.

A Real Press record does not tell you who composed each passage, whether AI was used, or whether every edit was captured. Account or domain control is not legal identity.

Independence

Real Press started independent and intends to stay independent. It is self-funded by design, to keep investors, advertisers and AI companies from steering it. The aim is to be honest and transparent, and to answer to the people who use it.

For institutions

Real Press is not taking institutional customers yet. Integrity and editorial teams who want to follow the work can email hello@real.press.
