The Real Press pilot

The pilot has not started. It is planned, and it will be by invitation.

Today you can try the demo and verify a synthetic sample offline.

Who it is for

It is for independent writers, and the commissioning editors they work with, at small specialist publications.

It is not for misconduct disputes, student assessment, sensitive investigations, or unpublished manuscripts you cannot afford to lose.

What the pilot will be

The pilot will follow four steps.

  1. Capture You will connect a document you choose. Real Press will record the snapshots it observes and list any gaps.
  2. Attest You will sign a statement about one exact version.
  3. Time evidence The fingerprint of that version will be added to a log and sent for an external timestamp. Until that evidence is complete, the receipt will say that time is not established.
  4. Share You will hand the receipt to an editor, who can check it without an account.

It will start small, with writers and the editors they already work with, on new pieces that are not sensitive. A receipt will only cover versions recorded after a document is connected. Text that was published earlier cannot gain earlier time evidence.

What we do not ask for in a first conversation

For a first conversation we never ask for a manuscript, an account connection, a password or an ID document. If the pilot starts, writers will connect only the documents they choose, and Real Press will compute fingerprints from the exported text without keeping the text in its dashboard. A legal-identity check is not part of the pilot.

Who holds the keys

During the pilot, Real Press will hold signing keys on behalf of each writer, and every record will say so.

What a receipt records

The sample below is synthetic: no writer, document or pilot account is behind it.

Synthetic sample

A synthetic example of what a receipt records. No real writer or document is involved.

Key only: a server-held sample key signed this version. No independently verified person is asserted.
Time
Not established. No external timestamp proof is included in this sample.

A Real Press record does not tell you who composed each passage, whether AI was used, or whether every edit was captured. Account or domain control is not legal identity.

What a pilot account will hold

The main records a pilot account will hold are:

  • your email address;
  • the signing key that Real Press holds on your behalf;
  • the fingerprints of the versions you choose to attest;
  • the signed statements about those versions;
  • the log entries that record those statements.

The dashboard will not keep your document text, as described above. This is a summary of the main records, not a full data map or a retention schedule.

The log will be append-only: a later entry can correct an earlier one but cannot erase it. A receipt you have already shared cannot be taken back from the people who hold it.
